We’ve just released a huge update to Soulver for iPhone that we’ve been working on for a number of months.

There are a many new features (you can see the whole list in iTunes), but here are some of the highlights:

• Complete support for iOS 4 including multitasking and the iPhone 4’s retina display.
• You can now switch to the standard ABC keyboard and add words alongside your numbers, like in the Mac and iPad versions:

• A new keyboard look

• Awesome new emailing feature to produce beautiful html emails of your documents. Here’s a sample of what you might get emailed to you soon:

• Much better line reference mode lets you tap on a line directly to insert a reference to it.
• Much more control over the formatting of answers by tapping on them.

Features such as exporting, formatting, better text editing and more statistics will be coming to Soulver for iPad soon. Once its released you will be able to share Soulver files between the Mac and iPad/iPhone versions of Soulver using iTunes file sharing, or email.

We’ve had a number of emails requesting units and currency conversion on the iPad and iPhone. We really want this feature to, and we’re working on it.

I’m so happy to announce that Soulver 2.0 for Mac has been released. We’ve been working on this major update to Soulver day and night for about a year and a half, and its by far the biggest update yet.

To build the Soulver we were dreaming about, we realised we needed to create our own math engine from scratch. So we did, and this has allowed us to add some pretty great new features, like unit conversions and smart percentage phrases. It’s also a lot quicker and more powerful than before.

We rethought almost every aspect of the interface too. The statistics now sit under the answer column, and the answer palette comes out the side. Line references are no longer static text, but little blue tokens that you can drag around. We also added syntax coloring, stocks, currencies, and a stack of other great stuff.

Good news! Soulver for iPad is now available on the App Store.

If you love Soulver on the Mac and iPhone, you’ll love it on the iPad too.

The interface is similar to our other versions of Soulver, and we’ve put a lot of time into making a really nice keyboard so calculating stuff is quick.

In landscape we’ve included a number of different keyboards on the left that you can tab between. The variables keyboard is especially cool. You can make and move around variables just like on the home screen. It’s like being able to create your custom keyboard.

You can toggle back and forwards between Soulver’s keyboard and Apple’s, so you can annotate your numbers with words like you can on the Mac:

Apple has chosen not to ship an iPad with a traditional calculator, and we think this is a great opportunity for Soulver.
